Once you use a Velop as a WiFi extender, then it extends the signals of the existing router. On the other hand, when you traditionally use Velop, it creates a new and separate network.
How to Setup Linksys Velop Login as WiFi Extender?
Now we explore the simple steps to set the Velop as WiFi extender. You need to enable the bridge mode of the Linksys mesh system using Linksys app or web interface.
Using Linksys App
- Download the Linksys mobile application.
- Login to the Linksys app using default login credentials unless you change them.
- Access the app interface by login.
- Here, tap on the Advanced Settings.
- Select Internet Settings, and also select Bridge Mode.
- In the last, is the Save option.
Once you have done these steps, the app dashboard shows that your mesh system is now in bridge mode. This means after that all the child nodes will work in bridge mode.
Using Linksys Router Login
You can also use the Linksys velop setup page to Setup Linksys Velop as WiFi Extender. Steps are:
- Connect your device to the Linksys Velop login.
- Enter Linksyssmartwifi.com into a web browser and access the Linksyssmartwifi interface.
- Locate the Connectivity option under Router settings and click on it.
- Navigate to the Internet Settings tab and select the Edit button.
- Here click/Select on Bridge Mode, apply changes.
This way you can enable the bridge mode of Velop mesh using the Linksyssmartwifi interface. After this, all the nodes of the Velop turn to AP Mode. Now your Velop nodes are extend the signals of existing router.
